YOU MUST USE SUPPLIED BATS, IF CAUGHT WITH A DIFFERENT BAT YOU WILL BE EJECTED FROM TOURNAMENT.



WIFFLE RULES

1.     PITCHING

Slow pitch with arc.  BALL MUST BREAK AT SOME POINT!


Pitchers push foot must be on rubber at all times.


Max pitch speed limited to 42 MPH and will be strictly enforced.


Height limit is no more than 6 inches over batters head.

2.     BATTING

a.     Batter must stand in batters box.

b.     Batter may crowd plate, but never lean into pitch.

c.     Batter must let pitch land, moving out of way if not trying to swing.

d.     No swinging bunts or half swings, or continued one handed swings.


3.     GAME

a.     3 Inning games, 3 outs per inning.

b.     3 men in the field, unlimited batters.

c.     Five balls, three strikes, third strike into backstop is an out.

d.     One step lead, no stealing.

e.     Entire backstop including legs is a strike.

f.       Higher seeded team is home through winner’s bracket.

g.     Coin flip for home field in loser’s bracket.

        a. Final four, and finals coin flip.

h.     Games take about 30 minutes, be at your field 15 minutes before scheduled game.


4.     EQUIPMENT

a.     NO CLEATS ALLOWED. Turf shoes are permitted.

b.     Do not bring a bat, only supplied bats will be used.

c.     No baseball gloves are to be worn.

5.     ROSTER

a.     Once a player has played in a game, he may not play with another team.

b.     You may substitute any time for a player, but you must re-enter into that position only.

c.     No DH.

6.     BALL IN PLAY

a.     Fielder may peg runner out, tag runner, or step on base before the runner gets there on a force.

b.     Once a runner is pegged OFF the base, play is dead; All others runners return to NEAREST base.  If on the base, ball is in play and all rules apply.

c.     Fielders may peg backstop on a play at the plate. Runner will be considered committed if halfway to the plate. Runner will be considered out if they run 5 feet from foul line to avoid tag.

d.     If the ball goes out of play after being thrown by a fielder at a runner play is dead and all fielders go back to nearest base.

e.     If a batted ball hits a fielder and goes out of play, or a fielder catches a ball out of play, they MUST bring the ball back into play before play is called dead.

f.       With less than two outs and a runner on, the base runner may advance once the ball is FIRST TOUCHED by the fielder, whether it is caught or not.

g.     Any ball that hits the fence in fair territory is in play, and is not an out.  Base runners MUST advance if forced.

h.     A ball may be caught anywhere in the air for an out.

i.       Ball must pass the chismo line to be a fair ball.

j.       With a ghost runner, the fielders may touch a forced base before the batter reaches first for an out.  Ghost runners may go to any occupied base.

k.    Any ball that hits the caution tape in the outfield is a HR.

l.       Any ball that hits a tree before the fence is in play and may be caught for an out.  If it lands or hits tree over the fence it is a HR.

m.  If a runner is standing on the base in fair territory and struck by the ball, it is not an out, and the ball is in play.

        a.  If in foul territory, ball is foul.

        b. If off the base, in fair territory, runner is out, and play is dead.

p.     No infield fly rule. (But no intentionally dropping ball either)

q.     Runners may tag from any base with less than two outs.

r.  HR Caution tape (if applicable), if tape breaks, it is a HR.  BOTH feet must be behind white line to rob a HR, it they are past, it is a HR.  If you can reach under the tape to play ball it is in play.

s. You must run in the baseline or be called out by the umpire.

7.     UMPIRES

a.     Each team must ump during the day.

b.     Do not argue with the umps, all calls are final.

c.     ENFORCE heat rule, even if batter does not ask.

d.     ENFORCE height rule, even if batter does not ask.



8.     EXTRA INNINGS

a.     4th Inning played under normal rules.

b.     5th Inning last batted out starts at second.

c.     6th on, last batted out starts at third.

9.     GAME DAYa.     Only the Commish or an acting delegate may interpret or make ruling asked for by teams.
